Despite the fact that Ohio is a swing state, the state is represented by, perhaps, the most liberal senator in the country, Sherrod Brown. Brown espouses an unvarnished socialist geopolitical view, desiring to tax the rich in order to redistribute the wealth to those who are willing to sustain the Democrat majority. Yet when it comes to his own taxes, he is not to eager to cough up the funds to Uncle Sam. The Cleavland Plain Dealer reports:
Ohio Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown was more than four months delinquent in paying taxes on his Washington, D.C., apartment and had to pay a penalty and interest last week.
This was not the first time, records show.
Brown also was delinquent in 2006 and 2007 and paid penalties and interest, according to tax records from the District of Columbia.
What happened to the moral obligation to pay your fair share, Mr. Brown?
Senator Brown chalked it up to an innocuous mistake, claiming that he “misplaced” the bill. When a reporter gently reminded him that he was late on his tax bill on two other occasions, he retorted, “I misplaced it then. This is a small apartment. I’m not in D.C. nearly every week, I’m here when the Senate’s in session, I’m here three or four nights a week. I paid the penalty. And in no way, obviously, was I avoiding taxes.”
There is no reason why we should be subjected to this liberal hypocrite in a state that leans Republican more than Democrat. Thankfully, we have a choice. Josh Mandel, who is challenging Brown, is not just any Republican; he is a conservative star. He is also an indefatigable campaigner. We are proud to be one of the first organizations to support his campaign. Please help him unseat Sherrod Brown, so Mr. Brown can have more time on his hands to pay his taxes, instead of raising our taxes.
