Kudos to Erick Erickson for his yeoman’s work in this fight against Washington, DC’s attempts to continue to plunge our nation further and further into debt. He has been ending a lot of his posts these days at RedState.com with what I hope will become a rallying cry for the conservative movement: “Hold the freaking line!”
His post yesterday, In Defense of Holding the Line, was possibly his best yet, even as Beltway conservatives like Laura Ingraham, Fred Barnes, Bill Kristol and others fall in line with the Establishment. Wonder why we as conservatives keep losing (and have been losing for 25+ years)? Because we have these folks that everyone thinks are conservatives yet when push comes to shove they fold like a house of cards. For fear of using tired phrases, talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words. Laura can sound as tough as she wants to when nothing is at stake, but when the DC Establishment (read Mitch McConnell and John Boehner) come knocking, her response is, “What do you need me to do and how high do you need me to jump?”
Today I know that conservatives in the House of Representatives like Congressman Jim Jordan, chairman of the Republican Study Committee, are under fire for the stand they are taking against Boehner’s cheap legislative parlor tricks and Harry Reid’s, well, idiocy. My hope is that they stand strong and continue to push their leadership to run with Cut, Cap and Balance. This is when the fight for our country becomes real, folks, and the stakes are high.
We have two options:
Do we want to continue to head towards the cliff?
Or do we want to hold the freaking line?
