As the vote approaches to bring Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im) back from the dead, it’s important to make one thing clear: Republican leaders have failed us once again. Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell has hid behind the Obamacare issue in order to push for the Ex- Im Bank.

This morning, Sen. Ted Cruz, grilled the Majority Leader and called him out for what he is: a liar.

McConnell had promised Republicans that there would not be a vote on the Ex-Im Bank, a bank that McConnell had claimed to not be in favor of.

Now, McConnell has done everything in his power to ensure that there very well will be a vote on the bank come the end of the month. In his attempt to ease Republicans who see through his act, he plans to rally the Senate for a vote to repeal Obamacare on Sunday. Here’s the thing, no one is fooled by his tricks again.

Sen. Cruz also stated “it is career politicians in both parties that are kept in office by looting the taxpayer to benefit wealthy, powerful corporations”. Interestingly enough, the Ex-Im Bank has been receiving support from both Democrats and Republicans. Coincidence? Not.

On top of it all, McConnell has also tried to get Democrats and Republicans to come together over the Highway Bill, something that will continue to allocate funds to the federal government instead of letting the states manage highways and transportation (something they already do the majority of and, a better job at). Not to mention it will be full of special interest projects.

So what can we do about the problem? Sen. Cruz again sets a great example of not letting crooks in Washington get away with their lies and tricks. We need to stand against this and put up a fight.

Conservatives need to reach out to their Senators and Representatives and let them know that they are totally against this institution that only takes money from taxpayers and gives it to large corporations that don’t need it. We need to hold them accountable for their actions and make sure, as stated by Sen. Cruz this morning, that they are not eating out of the hands of “big money and big corporations” at all.
