Madison Project Comments on Cloture Vote

“We will remember this vote when making future endorsements”

Washington, DC – The Madison Project PAC, the first conservative group to endorse Ted Cruz, released the following statement today regarding the 25 Republican U.S. Senators that joined with Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) and voted to fund Obamacare:

“It’s extremely disappointing to see the Senate vote to fund Obamacare today,” said Drew Ryun of Madison Project. “Rather than have allMembers of the Republican Party join with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and the grassroots movement to oppose the monstrosity that is Obamacare, many chose to side with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).”

“And what is even more disappointing is that the Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) could have stopped it, but once again he chose to sit on the sidelines and do absolutely nothing.  These ‘friends of Harry Reid’ will put out press statements and television ads claiming they fought to defund Obamacare but the American people know better – a vote for cloture was a vote to fund Obamacare.  We will remember this vote when making future endorsements. If a Senator touts past ceremonial votes against Obamacare as fighting on the issue but voted for cloture, we will expose them and then work to defeat them.”
