Once Again, Ted Cruz Makes Us Proud

It’s very easy to identify a conservative star after he has already performed well on the national stage.  The job of a good conservative PAC is to have the perspicacity to look ahead of the curve and get behind the right candidate from day one.  We are proud to be the first major national PAC that supported Ted Cruz for Senate.  At the time, many conservatives were split as to who was the best conservative alternative to Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst out of a crowded field.  We saw him as a bullet-proof committed conservative on all three legs of the stool.   He has not disappointed.

Today, he was one of only 3 Republicans to vote against John Kerry for Secretary of State.  But his real leadership was shown yesterday when he called out the bipartisan amnesty plan.  Remember, that as a Hispanic conservative from a state with a growing Hispanic population, Cruz has every incentive to ride the amnesty train to nowhere.  But he’s having none of it:

I appreciate the good work that senators in both parties have put into trying to fix our broken immigration system. There are some good elements in this proposal, especially increasing the resources and manpower to secure our border and also improving and streamlining legal immigration. However, I have deep concerns with the proposed path to citizenship. To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally.

Marco Rubio is being heralded as a saint because has has the tenacity to…..back the McCain-Kennedy amnesty plan along with Chuck Schumer – the very plan he campaign against when he ran for Senate just two years ago.  It takes courage for a freshman senator like Cruz to come out swinging immediately.  That is the sort of courage we are looking for in our candidates this year.
