For years, we’ve been told that we must continue to hire more teachers and spend more money on education. Well we have being doing just that for 40 years, and the results are dismal. Cato’s Andrew Coulsen writes in the Wall Street Journal that even though employees have doubled since 1970, student enrollment is only up 8.5%. So what’s happened to the rest of the money? It’s gone into the black hole of government expansion. It’s time to save education from the clutches of the corrupt teachers’ unions and open up the field to the private sector.
