The Relentless Pursuit of Americanism

I wrote about “Americanism” at RedState recently, and it’s a theme I’ve given even more thought to over the past few days. Here we stand in 2012, with significant unemployment, our national debt soon to be at $16 trillion, and a Ruling Class of long time incumbents controlling our system of government, not for the benefit of the American people, but for themselves and their cronies.  I was telling someone the other day that we must dream and see what America can become in the future, not be content to decline or accept the current state of things.

But as we lift up our eyes and dream of climbing to even great heights of freedom and prosperity as a nation, we have to understand that between us and that vision lie very difficult challenges. Between us and the America we dream of becoming lies the Ruling Class; the System of government that has been so corrupted as to be almost unrecognizable by our Founders; the Left and its Statist worldview that permeates education, the mainstream media; and quite frankly, a “conservative movement” (yes, quotes because I’m of the opinion there really isn’t a movement) that I’ve started to refer to as “The Racket” that must be massively reformed before the Ruling Class and Left can be beaten. So we must dream and see what can be in our mind’s eye, then we must, in reality, start to do the hard work that will turn this nation around and get us back on the right path.
