Mitt Romney is joining the army of outraged citizens who are fighting Obama’s administrative directive to require healthcare providers to cover contraceptives and things that violate religious freedoms. Yet, he failed to evince such outrage when similar directives were promulgated as a result of his version of Obamacare in Massachusetts.
Here’s what the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday:
When confronted with a similar law as governor of Massachusetts, Mr. Romney didn’t raise objections on religious or moral grounds, say people who worked in his administration or in health care interest groups there.
Rather, he viewed the contraception requirement more in economic terms, as only one of many costly “mandates” that some believed were driving up the price of insurance and suppressing competition, according to these people.
This exactly what a milquetoast Republican believes. They are not outraged by the moral decadence of liberal policies; just the cost of them. And ultimately, they could care less about the cost, as evidenced by Romney’s support for the budget-busting government-run takeover of Massachusetts healthcare.
